That’s bad enough. That tells us that students who don’t read well face a difficult future. What makes matters even worse is this:
2/3 of 4th grade students are not reading proficiently The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) for the US, aka The Nation’s Report Card
Combining these two stats clearly states that, if we don’t do something NOW, roughly half of our nation’s children face dire consequences.
At Active Literature, we developed a technology and wrote new creative award-winning content to run on it. Called MacroPersonalization™, it was specifically designed to improve literacy across the board for early middle readers by getting kids excited about reading in a way that nothing else can. Children love reading about themselves as main character and hero and this concept has proven to be the best way to spark interest in reading that can spread to other books.

No, it is not. We began developing our MacroPersonalization™ technology platform and first book, which I wrote, before AI hit the big screen. More recently, we tested AI, letting it write a version of one of our other books to see what would happen.
While my first book here won multiple awards, the AI attempt at the the other story (from the time traveler series) completely misrepresented history with anachronisms. It also incorrectly presented a very important historical fact in the story (and with language too flowery for this age group). The story creation was very fast but it generated a book that we couldn’t use.
As a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, I know that some authors use AI to help them with ideas and outline. For me, personally, once the “What is this book about?” question is answered, the ending and the path(s) to that ending fall into place so I don’t have a need for that type of AI help.
Empowering young minds starts with access to quality resources. That’s why, in addition to creating engaging learning experiences, a portion of our proceeds goes toward supporting schools.
